Locate Warren County Recorder Records

The Warren County County Clerk / Recorder of Deeds records search is separate from a court case search. The County Clerk handles county commission, election, license, payroll, and notary commission functions, while the Recorder of Deeds handles recorded documents, land records, tax liens, military discharge papers, and marriage licenses. Warren County court files, probate cases, and divorce decrees remain with the Circuit Clerk, so record access starts by choosing the correct county office.

What Warren County Clerk Records Include

The County Clerk page is the best fit for administrative county records rather than court filings. The Clerk's visible site navigation includes Public Record, Notary Commission, Liquor License, Pollworker Application, Forms, and Fees. The research did not locate a detailed County Clerk fee table beyond contact information, so copying costs for County Clerk records should be confirmed by phone.

  • County Commission public records and official county action records.
  • Election Day and absentee voting administration records.
  • County payroll and payment administration records.
  • Liquor license and auctioneer license functions.
  • Notary commission issuance and related public service forms.

The Recorder's records are different. Recorder searches are tied to names, recorded-document indexes, marriage licenses, and land records. The Recorder FAQ says records are indexed alphabetically by name, not by address or location, and the office cannot perform lien searches or prepare legal documents.

Request Warren County Recorded Copies

Certified copies of recorded land records are available by contacting or visiting the Recorder. Certified marriage-license copies can be requested through the Recorder's listed office process and the linked online ordering path noted in the FAQ. The office can provide access to recorded documents, but it cannot decide whether a document is legally valid, conduct an abstract of title, draft a deed, or determine whether liens exist.

  1. Identify the document type, such as deed, tax lien, plat, survey, marriage license, or military discharge.
  2. Search by name, not property address, because the Recorder's records are indexed by name.
  3. Use the online portal, public office computer, or index books to locate the record reference.
  4. Ask the Recorder for a plain copy, certified copy, emailed document, or certified marriage copy.
  5. Confirm the fee and payment method before ordering, especially for marriage records.

Recorder Request Field Checklist

No single Recorder copy-request form field table was fully captured, but the Recorder's instructions and FAQ show the data a successful request normally needs. Marriage requests need applicant names and license details. Land records need party names and document identifiers. Legal descriptions matter for land transfers, and a property address is not accepted as the legal description for recording standards.

Warren County Recorder Filing Rules

The Recorder lists a local rule effective January 1, 2026: handwritten documents are no longer accepted, and submissions must be typed. The first page must leave three inches of vertical space across the top for Recorder use, use minimum margins, and use dark ink with at least eight-point printer type. First-page information includes the document title, date, grantor and grantee names, marital status for land-transfer documents, grantee mailing address when required, legal description, and reference book/page where required.

Nonstandard documents may still be recorded with the $25 nonstandard fee unless an exemption applies. The research notes exemptions for documents signed before January 1, 2002, military separation papers, documents executed outside the United States, certified copies, documents involving deceased or incapacitated original parties, court-formatted judgments or documents, and UCC filings on accepted Missouri forms. These are Recorder rules, not Circuit Court pleading rules.

Note: The Recorder can record documents that meet office rules, but legal drafting and title questions should go to an attorney or title company.

Warren County E-Recording

The Recorder says the office has been able to e-record since February 21, 2023. The e-recording partners listed in the research are ePN, CSC, Simplefile, I-County, and Hopdox. E-recording is for recorded documents submitted through approved providers. It is not a way to file Circuit Court pleadings or request court-certified copies from the Circuit Clerk.
